History
We wanted to give voice to a wild contrada, still untouched by progress and agricultural mechanization, a place where time seems to stand still. We are in Contrada Fratte in Castignano (AP), on the slopes of Mount Ascensione, where the terroir is picturesque. Here, amidst hectares of virgin Mediterranean scrub, in a context of biodiversity uncontaminated by man, and sandy soils rich in limestone and stones, our first label was born: a pure Sangiovese that we decided to call “Contrada Fratte,” because we want the whole soul of this place to be perceived in the glass. In the vineyard, all the main work is done manually.
Our business philosophy is to consider the vineyard not as a simple specialized monoculture, as we are used to seeing it today, but as a living ecosystem in which perennial plant species and tree species can coexist. This approach aims to strengthen our ecosystem and make it more resistant to climate change, pathogens and soil erosion.
Design
The label design expresses the work we have done with absolute simplicity. The name of the wine, Contrada Fratte, is prominent in the center. We decided to emphasize the vintage of the wine because, especially for authentic artisanal wines like ours, it is crucial to emphasize how they can express different facets from year to year. In the background is the unmistakable profile of Mount Ascension, which dominates the view from our vineyard. Once printed, the labels are then individually stamped and glued by hand to best express our artisanal spirit.

Material
The paper we chose is Tintoretto Gesso mainly because of its elegance and its characteristic of resisting immersion in water.
