Poerio Beverage combines more than 70 years of family tradition with modern innovation. The company tells its story and presents its products: authentic alcoholic beverages inspired by Sicily.

History

Imagine a trip to places in the heart of Sicily, where the passion for beverage production has its roots in 1951. It was Jan. 11 of that year when Saimbene Salvatore, a former employee of the Banco di Sicilia, began a daring adventure: he founded the Saimbene company, dedicated to the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. At his side, with love and dedication, is his wife Orofino Antonina, an active part of this extraordinary enterprise.

In 1957 the company moved to Licata, marking the beginning of continued growth until 1964. In 1965, a new phase took off in Caltagirone, where the business continued until 1971. During these years, sons Giacomo and Giovanni, now adults, joined the company, bringing new ideas and an innovative vision, giving new impetus to family production. Combining tradition and modern management, POERIO S.r.l. was born in 1972, with the official entry of the two sons. A reality that combines experience, innovation and passion. Plant upgrades and attention to the market soon lead the company to become a benchmark in the industry, growing with momentum. In 1979 POERIO S.r.l. expands with a new production site in Syracuse, operating until 1992. In response to growing demand, a new plant is opened in the industrial area of Caltagirone in 1993, marking the birth of La Nuova Poerio S.r.l.

The story continues with Salvatore, Giovanni’s son, moving to Australia to immerse himself in the local language and culture. He stays there 13 years, honing his skills and broadening his horizons. In 2023, driven by the call of his origins, he returns to Italy with a new mission: to continue the family business by creating a factory for the production of liqueurs and bitters. Thus was born Saimbene Salvatore’s POERIO BEVERAGE, a tribute to a tradition of more than seventy years in the beverage industry. A new venture that renews a passion for quality liqueurs and celebrates a legacy that has been handed down for three generations. Each sip is a testament to a story of passion, tradition and dedication.

Design

The design of the labels was created through experience gained after many years, taking inspiration from our beloved land. Each label tells a story related to Sicily, its colors, scents and millenary culture. A significant example is the Gin Drago dell’Etna, which is inspired by the Italo-Greek mythological ideology. All our products feature our logo, which represents the symbol of Sicily (stylized Trinacria), a distinctive element that reinforces the brand identity. This visual sign is not only a reminder of tradition and origin, but also a mark of authenticity, pride and belonging to our land.

Material

The materials we chose are plastic materials because some of our products are stored in freezers. We thought it appropriate to choose this material because it is resistant to all temperatures, remaining intact in its appearance. In addition, plastic materials offer greater durability over time, do not deteriorate in contact with moisture, and ensure that the label keeps its aesthetic and functional characteristics intact even under extreme conditions.In addition to durability, plastic materials also allow for brilliant and defined printing performance, enhancing every graphic detail of our labels to the fullest.
